Tributes to long-serving Bridgwater cricket player Josh Vickery who has passed away

THE Somerset cricket community has united in tribute after the tragic death of a popular player.
Now, the county’s cricket community has united to pay tribute to ‘family man’ Josh, who was a regular performer for the club.
Posting on social media, Wembdon Cricket Club said: “You (Bridgwater Cricket Club) are all in our thoughts and prayers.
“Such devastating news. A class cricketer and all round nice guy.
“Sending love to you all and the family.”
Other social media messages include Darren Read, who said the news was ‘heartbreaking’.
“The love I have seen through social media has been both emotional and heartwarming.
“The loved ones of our dear friend need us now.
“It’s time to come even closer together and show our strength, unity and love.”
Groundsman at Bridgwater Cricket Club, Rob Hake, said: “Yesterday, (Bridgwater CC) lost a very special son.
“A true club man and wonderful family man. Such devastating news.
“Thoughts are with all his family and loved ones.”
Jason Kerr, head coach at Somerset County Cricket Club, wrote: “Sending so much love to my (Bridgwater CC) family.”

Taunton Town Football Club goalkeeper, Lloyd Irish wrote: “Very sad, thoughts with all at (Bridgwater CC).”
Former Bath cricketer, Lloyd Davies, wrote: “Thoughts with all associated with (Bridgwater CC) and the family tonight.
“Very sad news. Another good ‘un taken too soon.”
And Andrew Frick wrote: “Much love to my blue family, I’m shattered.
“Our world is a sadder place for the loss of the ultimate teammate and one of the best blokes you could meet.”
They were joined by cricket clubs from across the region, sending their sympathies to all at the club, as well as Mr Vickery’s family and friends.
