FOODIES delight as next week sees the Bridgwater Food and Drink Festival return to the town.
The annual event couldn’t take place last year due to the pandemic so it’s been two years since visitors got to experience the culinary delights the free-to-attend festival has to offer.
There will be more than 60 food, drink and craft stalls spread throughout the town stretching across St Mary’s Church, Angel Shopping Centre, Fore Street and High Street.
A spokesperson for the festival said: “The beautiful St Mary’s Church will be where you will find amazing food, drink and craft stallholders.
“The church will also have the cafe open and the tower. If you have not seen the views over the town centre from the tower its definitely worth a visit.”
For anyone attending who is new to Bridgwater, there will be more than 20 marshals, wearing hi-vis jackets, on hand to answer questions and offer directions.
Festival organisers thanked a number of venues and organisations for their help over the last two years in bringing the event together. These include, Bridgwater Town Team, Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival, Bridgwater Town Council, St Mary’s Church, Angel Place Shopping Centre, Sedgemoor FM and your Bridgwater Mercury, along with the many local businesses who have helped with advertising the event and residents with various offers of help.
The even will see temporary road closure of High Street, Fore Street and Cornhill from 7am to 4.30pm. During the closure, stewards will be in attendance to provide local access and through traffic will be diverted via St Mary Street.
:: Bridgwater Food and Drink Festival will take place next Saturday (July 24) from 9.30am to 3pm
