Nearly 80 new coronavirus cases recorded in latest 24 hour period

THE number of positive Covid-19 tests in Somerset in the latest 24-hour figures was 79.

Sedgemoor saw the biggest rise with 28 new cases recorded – taking the total confirmed cases in the district since the start of the pandemic to 4,937.

Somerset West and Taunton also had 13 new confirmed cases, giving it an overall total of 5,718.

South Somerset saw 22 positive tests, taking its total since the start of the pandemic to 4,912.

And Mendip had 16 new confirmed cases for an overall total of 3,198.
