Impressive family home on the market for a steal in Bath
Written by Somerset Live on May 14, 2022
It’s no secret that Bath is an expensive place to buy a home and many families have been priced out of the city. These days, it feels like three-bedroom houses under £500,000 are rarer than honest politicians.
Yet, every week we trawl the property pages of Bath, hoping against hope that something – anything – will come on the market at a reasonable price. Our criteria? Three bedrooms and a budget of £300,000.
Most weeks we have to throw these requirements out the window and write about someone’s 20-room mansion for the fifth time this year, or make a shoe-box flat sound like a bijou gem.
But this week – this week – we think we’ve done it. We may just have found a three-bedroom home on Wansdyke Road, complete with a garden, and it’s only £260,000. Yes, you read that right.
Of course, there is a catch – well, two actually, but we’ll deal with the bigger one first. It’s in a terrible state. No disrespect to its previous owner, but this home needs some tender loving care.
The other trouble is that there is only one bathroom – and it’s downstairs. But, with some creative thinking, this spacious property could be revamped into a lovely home. To take a look inside, click on our picture gallery below.
Let’s face it, when you move into a new house, you usually have to completely redecorate anyway – so a lot of the work, such as stripping wallpaper and pulling up carpets is to be expected. But, you’ll probably want to put in a new kitchen and re-plaster too.
Why’ll you’re at it, you may as well see if there’s scope for an ensuite upstairs. That will make mornings easier and you can get plenty of inspiration from Homes Under The Hammer.
What’s more, you’ll have two bedrooms and a front and back garden for your little ones to thrive in, as well as a primary school and secondary school nearby. Wansdyke Road is also not too far from local shops.
