Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service is asking residents to think twice ahead of the first weekend since government ‘lockdown’ restrictions were eased.
With the recent warm and dry weather, there is a significant risk of wildfires – fires in the open on moorland, commons, and grass.
Wildfires can start and spread very easily and can be caused by discarded cigarettes, disposable BBQs left hot, and glass bottles in the sunlight.
The service are also asking the public to take care on the roads – quieter roads have meant we have seen an increase in drivers taking risks and driving at higher speeds. Don’t underestimate the impact not driving for seven weeks may have on you and take time to get used to driving again.
