Asda to donate £5m

Written by on March 21, 2020

Asda have announced that they are dedicating 8am to 9am to NHS staff on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and are changing their opening hours to reflect other supermarkets. They’ll now open from 8am to 8pm.

Roger Burnley, Chief Executive of the supermarket chain has also pledged to donate 5 million pounds to FareShare and the Trussel trust to help the countries most vulnerable people through the Covid-19 pandemic. Like other retailers, Asda are urging customers to use card payments, rather than cash.

He closed his email with a message of thanks to staff who are working round the clock to feed the nation and words of encouragement that reflect the current mood of working together to get through this extraordinary time.
